CNMP Development

The CNMP project has been completed. The finished reports are as follows:

A Wisconsin Comprehensive Nutrient Managment Plan Development Protocol View Here

The tentative schedule for CNMP development is as follows:

At this point 15 farms are slated to have a CNMP developed.

The first step in the process will be to develop a standard template for use on all of the farming operations. In an attempt to construct a standardized format, the Joe Bragger farm will be utilized, due to its close proximity to the Pigeon Falls office.

In order to provide consistency with regards to the plans on all of the farming operations, the following items will be developed.

  • A conservation plan written in RUSLE2 format
  • A nutrient management plan written in SNAP PLUS format
  • All engineering and structural practice recommendations will be provided with concurrence from the local NRCS and Land Conservation Departments

Once a format has been agreed upon, the next step will be to develop CNMP's on seven of the selected farming operations. It will be attempted to have these plans in place by the fall of 2005. Upon completion of the initial seven plans, the remaining eight plans will be generated.

It is the intent of the project to keep a detailed record of what is entailed in the development of the CNMP's along with providing suggestions for the improvement of the process.
