 Discovery Farms in Other States

The substantial and unique impacts of UW Discovery Farms have inspired other states to create similar programs. Farmers and government, university, industry and agency representatives from Arkansas, Minnesota and North Dakota have visited Wisconsin to learn lessons from DF producers and directors. Leaders from these states agree that Discovery Farms offers a bevy of benefits - from producer-driven roots and practical, on-farm results to transparency and popularity with policy makers. But each state will put its own spin on Wisconsin's trendsetting effort.

North Dakota

Arkansas

See a YouTube video from Arkansas farm leaders' visit to Wisconsin in July 2008. For questions about Discovery Farms efforts in Arkansas, contact Mike Daniels at mdaniels@uaex.edu or Andrew Sharpley at sharpley@uark.edu.

Minnesota

Discovery Farms Minnesota was launched in the fall of 2009, with support and assistance from the 15 farm organizations comprising the Minnesota Agricultural Water Resources Coalition, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and University of Minnesota Extension. Initial funding for Discovery Farms Minnesota was provided by the Minnesota Corn Growers and the Minnesota Soybean Growers. See http://mawrc.org for more information.
